AQUAEXCEL invites proposals for its transnational call for access. Call 7 will open on 14 August 2017 and close on 25 September 2017. The call offers access to facilities covering the entire range of aquaculture production systems, environments, scales, fish species and fields of expertise. The objective of the call is to unite major aquaculture experimental facilities with capacity to undertake experimental trials on a selection of commercially important fish aquaculture species and system types.

Researchers from anywhere in the world may apply, however 80 per cent of funded access is reserved for researchers or research groups which have their group leader and a majority of group members affiliated to institutions or laboratories from European member states or associated states. They must collaborate with an AQUAEXCEL infrastructure located in a different country than the one they apply from. AQUAEXCEL infrastructures include University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (CZ), Wageningen University (NL) and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ES). Participation of SMEs is encouraged.

A collaboration normally takes the form of one or more scientists from the applicant organisation visiting the selected AQUAEXCEL installation to undertake research work. Access covers both facility costs and travel and subsistence expenses for up to two people over up to three months.
