Aquaponics – the symbiotic growing of fish and vegetables in recirculating water systems – is emerging as one of the most important areas of sustainable agriculture. The EU Aquaponics Hub (2014-2018) was funded by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) in order to promote innovation and capacity building by a network of researchers and commercial aquaponics companies. Part of the legacy of the Hub is the EU Aquaponics Association (EUAA), which was launched at the final conference of the EU Aquaponics Hub in April 2018. Further details can be found here. Another part of the legacy is the FA1305 White Paper which contains eight key recommendations for the future development of aquaponics in the EU.
